Flood Expo 2021 looks at flood prevention, flood response and FloodSax ‘sandless’ sandbags

The UK’s largest exhibition about flooding will feature one of the country’s most innovative anti-flood inventions – the sandless sandbag.

The award-winning FloodSax alternative sandbag will be one of the ‘stars of the show’ at Flood Expo 2021 after proving itself worldwide to be highly effective in flood prevention and flood control.

Almost 3 million have now been sold and visitors to Flood Expo 2021 will be amazed to see for themselves just how quickly and well FloodSax works to deal with a range of flood management and flood resilience problems both outside homes and businesses and inside too.

FloodSax was invented by Yorkshire entrepreneur Richard Bailey, managing director of Huddersfield-based Environmental Defence Systems. They are used extensively in the UK by local councils and flood prevention organisations and exported all over the world.

Flood Expo 2021 will be at the NEC in Birmingham on Wednesday, September 22 and Thursday, September 23.

It connects flood professionals by bringing together buyers and suppliers from across the industry showcasing leading expertise, innovative products such as FloodSax alternative sandbags and pioneering solutions.

Flood Expo 2021 has three main flood themes - prediction, prevention and response. For each theme visitors will find exhibitors, networking and dedicated theatres hosting seminars and panel debates.

The innovative products in the exhibition stands deal with flood prediction, flood prevention, flood response and recovery from flooding. Main speakers include Julie Foley, director of flood and coastal risk management strategy and national adaptation at the Environment Agency who will talk about how the Environment Agency’s flood and coastal risk management strategy is being implemented.

Richard Blyth, head of policy, practice and research at the Royal Town Planning Institute, will speak about planning and flooding.

Other speakers include Mary Dhonau, OBE, chief executive of the Know Your Flood Risk Campaign and author of publications about flooding and Hannah Baker, programme manager for Communities Prepared.
