The wet and windy weather is here to stay so it’s time to get prepared for a soggy autumn.

Although tomorrow (Wednesday) should be a decent day across the UK, the sucker punch comes with more rain for the rest of the week, over the weekend and, according to the Met Office, throughout most of October.

FloodSax alternative sandbags are available at 900 branches of Travis Perkins (product code 868499) and now is the time to get prepared as local councils won’t come running with sandbags if the worst happens and your home or business starts to flood.

FloodSax managing director Richard Bailey said: “We’ve had calls this week from people when the floodwater is at their door which is, sadly, far too late.

“Now is the time to stock up and get ready for autumn and winter as the atrocious weather we’ve had recently is only the start.”

FloodSax are space-saving to store yet quick and easy to deploy and with more than 2.5 million sold worldwide they have proved themselves in action worldwide time and time again.

FloodSax sales director Richard Nikolic added: “Homeowners and businesses often don’t realise that councils have no responsibility to provide sandbags if flooding is expected. I was speaking to one council recently who admitted they were massively scaling back their sandbag stock.

“People must protect themselves and one way to do this is to have FloodSax alternative sandbags which means you have peace of mind and are ready for action 24/7 to prevent a flood.”

Once FloodSax come into contact with water they inflate to weigh 20kg (44lbs) which makes them more effective than traditional sandbags at keeping floodwater out.

They are also used inside, particularly by facilities management companies, to soak up leaks and spills, saving a fortune in expensive flood damage.
